BREEAM RSC 03 Extended resource catalog<\/h2>\n

By creating an extended resource catalog, the <\/span>BREEAM inventory<\/b> certification, 2.1 % more BREEAM points can be achieved. The extended resource catalog is therefore very helpful for a high award such as BREEAM “Excellent” (\u2265 70 %) or “Outstanding” (\u2265 85 %). <\/span><\/p>\n

The requirements of the EU taxonomy were integrated into the requirements for the criterion RSC 03 Extended resource catalog.<\/p>\n

The RSC 03 criterion belongs to the materials assessment category. The materials category promotes the responsible use and reuse of resources in order to increase sustainability throughout the entire building cycle and increase added value. <\/p>\n

a) functional classification (e.g. carpet, windows) according to the nationally recognized classification system (e.g. UNICLASS in the UK) <\/span><\/p>\n

b) Components (e.g. structural steel, mineral wool) according to the nationally recognized classification system (e.g. UNICLASS in the UK) <\/span><\/p>\n

d) estimated quantity in the building (in a suitable unit, e.g. m3, kg, number of pieces)<\/span><\/p>\n

RSC03 Extended resource catalog(EU taxonomy criterion) <\/strong>(4 points)<\/h3>\n

In addition to the items listed above for a simple resource catalog, an extended resource catalog contains the following information for each relevant resource of the building: <\/span><\/p>\n

e) Advice on the current financial value <\/span><\/p>\n

f) Guideline for preserving the value of planned maintenance, repair, replacement (of components) and refurbishment work <\/span><\/p>\n

g) Guideline to preserve value during dismantling and deconstruction works carried out during or at the end of the building life cycle (depending on the estimated remaining useful life of the resource and the building) <\/span><\/p>\n

h) Guideline for generating the maximum financial gain or avoiding costs by taking advantage of reuse or recycling opportunities following dismantling and decommissioning work, including guidance on how these can be further developed in the future. <\/span><\/p>\n

To create the simple or extended resource catalog, we use our own life cycle assessment tool <\/span>LCA Online<\/span><\/a>our building product tool <\/span>Building Material Scout<\/span><\/a>or <\/span>Madaster<\/span><\/a>. Export as an Excel file is possible in all systems.<\/span>

BREEAM rewards responsible use of resources<\/h2>\n

BREEAM<\/a> DE\/AT\/CH Existing Buildings is a performance-based assessment procedure for the certification of existing commercial buildings. The primary aim of this BREEAM system is to reduce the environmental impact of existing buildings on the environment. Further information can also be found here: BREEAM website<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n

The BREEAM DE\/AT\/CH portfolio assessment process is divided into two parts, which can be certified separately:<\/span><\/p>\n

  2. Quality of building operation: Assessment standard for the management processes used in a building, which can be used to identify both best practices and potential for optimizing building operation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A building as a materials warehouse supports the circular economy<\/h2>\n

    One criterion of BREEAM certification for the building quality of existing properties is the creation of a resource catalog. Resources in the building include construction products, equipment or furniture. Small fixings (brackets, nails, screws, etc.), adhesives and seals can be excluded. The purpose of the resource catalog is to enable building owners to recognize, maintain and use the value of resources. This increases the recycling rate of resources, extends the service life of materials and products and reduces the consumption of new materials. Understanding the building as a “material store” enables the implementation of circular economy principles.
