QNG: prerequisite for state funding
Since 2021, sustainable construction has been supported by the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG). The Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings (QNG) was also introduced with the start of the funding. The Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings (QNG) was developed as an award by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) to promote a uniform understanding of sustainability and create a basis for the awarding of subsidies. Until March 2023, in order to receive funding as part of the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG funding), a building had to be labeled as an Efficiency House with a sustainability class (NH class) and at the same time obtain the QNG. In March 2023, the BEG subsidy with NH class was replaced by the Climate-friendly new build subsidy, which considers sustainability performance over the entire life cycle. Proof of the award of the Sustainable Building quality seal is also required for the Climate-friendly New Build subsidy.Certification with the QNG
There is no independent certification body for the Sustainable Building Quality Seal. Instead, the QNG is also awarded during building certification by accredited certification bodies such as the DGNB, NaWoh, BNB, BNK and BNG. This is made possible by the design of the requirements for the quality seal. Various general requirements must be met for the award, which are also reflected in the criteria of the systems that are allowed to award the QNG. These requirements include socio-cultural and functional quality, economic and ecological aspects, technical quality and process flow. In addition, there are specific QNG requirements that must be fulfilled. Do you have questions about the QNG or need support in implementing the QNG requirements? Get in touch with us!
