NaWoh: Quality seal for sustainable housing construction
With the Seal of Quality for Sustainable Housing federal associations from the housing and real estate industries have joined forces to promote sustainability in residential construction in order to give interested players in the residential construction sector the opportunity to certify their new builds and achieve a seal of quality.
The basis for this is the assessment system developed for sustainable residential construction (NaWoh).
The Sustainable Housing Quality Seal promotes the documentation and transparency of sustainability in practice in new residential construction.
The underlying system for describing and assessing sustainability can be used independently of the quality seal as a guide, planning aid and to support quality assurance.
The NaWoh Association is an accredited certification body for the award of the Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings (QNG).
The NaWoh 3.1 system provides a suitable basis for r the verification procedure for awarding the seal variant QNG-WG23 (formerly QNG-WN21). Residential buildings with a QNG label can be subsidized under the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG).
How does NaWoh certification work?
The certification process begins as soon as the client submits all the necessary documents.
Here, he can be certified by NaWoh sustainability coordinators receive support.
The written application for certification can be submitted during or after completion of the documents.
Please note that the NaWoh criteria profiles be included in the planning.
After reviewing and confirming the documents received, NaWoh appoints a conformity auditor to the client, who checks all processes within the construction and planning processes and ensures the quality of the certificate.
The results are then passed on to the association’s scientific supervisory body for examination.
If the assessment is positive and no defects are found, the Sustainable Housing Quality Seal is awarded.
The certification process can already be started during the planning or construction phase of a residential building.
Planning certificates are used to document construction phases and intermediate stages.
Upon completion of construction, the certificates expire and, if successful, are replaced by the NaWoh seal.
Certificate holders and their projects are presented and listed on the association’s homepage www.nawoh.de after successful testing and award of the certificate.
What certification categories are there?
In NaWoh certification, performance is considered and evaluated in five different categories:
- Quality of living
- Technical quality
- Ecological quality
- Economic quality
- Process quality
As buildings cannot be assessed in complete isolation, general conditions such as the market situation, corporate strategy, environmental conditions and location factors are also included in the assessment.
Details of the assessment criteria can be found here to read more. If you have any questions about the Sustainable Housing Quality Seal, the QNG or funding for sustainable construction, we will be happy to advise you personally.
