QNG – Quality seal for sustainable buildings
The Sustainable Building Quality Seal was developed by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building(BMWSB) in order to promote a uniform understanding of sustainability and at the same time create a legally secure basis for the allocation of subsidies. Until recently, the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG) required certification as an efficiency house with a sustainability class (NH class). This meant that the state quality seal for sustainable buildings was also mandatory, as this provided the necessary proof for the subsidy. In March 2023, the NH class subsidy was replaced by the BEG subsidy Climate-friendly new build which looks at sustainability performance throughout the entire life cycle. The requirements of the quality seal must also be met for this funding. Find out more about the QNG and its criteria here.
